The Beginning of the Ultimate "The Legend of Zelda" Playthrough

John's Vantage Point

"The Legend of Zelda" has long been one of my favorite video game series of all-time.  Besides "Mike Tyson's Punch-Out," the original The Legend of Zelda on the original Nintendo Entertainment System was the my first video game my Dad and I (at the tender Age of Four) spent hours upon hours playing together.

Since those cherished childhood memories, The Legend of Zelda series has expanded to 17 official games, most recently "The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds."

Now at the wonderful Age of 30, I find myself engaged not only to the beautiful love of my life, but a woman who I've come to learn shares my adoration and fascination with Nintendo's pinnacle video game series.  In watching her play the various games in the series (Most

Now that Ally and I are engaged, we thought one fun way to pass the time until our wedding next August was to start a blog about our experiences playing through the entire Legend of Zelda series.

We're hoping to create various rankings in our time playing.  Most importantly, we're going to be ranking the games, every dungeon in every game, etc, and sharing our thoughts and reasoning for making these determinations.  I will provide my own vantage point, while Ally will post her own thoughts about this as well.

Our one rule that we agreed upon is this: we are going to play through the series in the order of the games' release date.  In other words, we'll be starting at the beginning in 1987 with The Legend of Zelda - not in 2011 with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, even though it's the first game in the Official Legend of Zelda Timeline.

With that, Ally and I embark in our journey tonight (at 10:15 P.M. at night of course).  We look forward to sharing the results of our nerd fest with everyone, and thanks for checking in with the blog from time to time as we progress through the various iterations of Hyrule!

May the Way of the Hero lead to the Triforce!

- John
